Underskattat: Korv med Bröd

Coming back to my parents place in Sigtuna, makes me feel like I'm 14 again.
It's like time has stopped.
Yesterday, L had a BBQ party with all her old friends. People that I've hanged out with when I was in high school were there. That's the best thing about summer. It brings people together.
The lovely Swedish summer weather set in already from the beginning of the evening. It literally poured down on us. But that's just part of the charm of the Swedish summer.
One thing that surprised me was the whole fashion thing going on in Sweden. Im not used to the fact that guys are as much fashion victims as girls are here. When I say that 8 out of 9 guys had the same style of sweater with buttons on, Im not kidding. But hey, I got to give them credit for not using the same color.
Already from the beginning, people started drinking heavily. The "nice" summer weather delayed our BBQ, which meant that people were already drunk when the dinner was ready. After dinner, a game of boule was set up. But after 10 minutes, people got bored of it, and started drinking again.
The party finished around 1.30. Taxis were ordered with the destination of Statoil. The usual after party place. I got to say that I miss the Swedish hot dogs.
En grillad med ketchup tack!!
Fell asleep at 3-ish on S's couch. (Doesnt anyone live in Sigtuna anymore?!)

God, It's good to be 14 again.

Tu me manques cocotte

le retour

Vacances.

I must say that it is very nice to be back in Europe. I miss small things like walking around on the streets, breathing fresh air, watching people, sitting on a café in downtown Stockholm.
The other day in Lyon we rented velo-v's with J and A. Cruising down the Quai de Rhone, down to the restaurant street, rue Merciere, full and alive with people buzzing in the summer night.

I didnt think that I would actually miss Lyon.
But I do.
The thing is that after a while, new places become part of the everyday life.
La vie quotidienne.
The moment when you dont see the buildings around you, the small details on the windows, and the small candy shop on the corner. That's when you are integrated in the life. People get blinded by the beauty around them. They dont see it anymore.
Maybe we just need to escape to be able to see the beauty again. The beauty that we saw when we first came to the place.
Hmm..

I just like to call you my bitch

So here I am, counting down the days to my vacation. 3 working days left, and then I will fly off to the country of Romance, Cheese, and Good Wine.
Im dreaming of sitting in one o my favorite restaurants in Lyon and eating my favorite dish, with some nice company and some tasty wine.

Remember Ayya Napa 98?
Hopefully we will see the crazy acrobats, have cocktails in coconuts, and get tourist armbands to remember our crazy nights at the Bongo Bar.. (What was the name of that bar again...??)
Maybe the guy with the round fine butt muscles will be there again, playing a tune for us and checking out the blond next to me.

Only time will tell what surprises our Nice-trip will bring us this time.

Im counting the days.....

Ps. Im not getting into a Smart Car again J. :)

too general

Why do the weekends pass so quickly? I wish I had one more day to really enjoy the weekend. I still have some problems accepting the whole thing about working on Sundays..

Thursday, finished work early. Left Dubai Media City around 18h to go home, get changed and out for drinks with H and his buddies. Now that I have had the opportunity to actually socialize with South African people, I have to say that they are really really nice. Some people that I have met here say that South Africans are dodgy people.. But Im sticking to my theory about getting an opinion of my own.

First we met at this bar called Left Bank at the Madinat Jumeirah (close to the Burj Al Arab hotel). A lot of mixed nationalities in the bar. Most of them seemed to be English (they are everywhere here!!). Not that I have anything against English people (as I have some English blood in me).

After the bar we went to this place called Ibo which was the other side of the city. According to H, it is the most underground-kind-of-place i Dubai. I really enjoyed the evening with nice company, very good music, and a lot of laughs.

Except that weird person hanging around Ibo in his mercedes..

Next day, just chilled out at the pool with K and F on our new lilos. Its staring to get a bit too hot to go sun tanning at the pool. K and F are currently on a diet that makes them a bit feisty..
I almost feel guilty when I eat.. I dont know if I should lock myself in the bathroom to eat my dinner.. Hmm.. not very tempting though..

Tomorrow is work day again. F has promised if France wins on Sunday, we will get monday off!!
Im sooo hoping that they will win.. F has bought special Frace team t-shirts that he picked up in France last week that we will be wearing on Sunday. Dont really know if thats gonna help the French team...But whatever..

Ps.Today's text is dedicated to E and D reading my blog passionately (!?) , asking for more details about my Dubai life. Is this enough details, or do you want more? :)

Nice I tell ya..

Best weekend in a long time!

Started off with some nice cocktails at the house on Thursday night. Went to the c-bar after. Really nice music, nice people.
The only thing that was a bit tacky was when someone ordered a magnum champagne bottle, the music turned into this ceasar-type of music and the champagne was carried in this steel-thingy up in the air. hm...
After that we went to the Libanese bakery. It is starting to be a routine...
The day after, K woke me up at 11h to have brunch at the Fairmount hotel. You should have seen the buffet... I died when I saw the dessert table. (yes I have a weak spot for desserts). Champagne was literally flowing in the place. After brunch, time for the bar. (at 16h)
At 18h everyone was completely dead after 5 hours of marathon of eating and drinking.
I was supposed to go out with the Swedish gang, but unfortunately I woke up at 1am after a little nap of the couch..

So here I am, Sunday, day off in Europe, working day in Dubai. Just booked my ticket to go to Nice in the end of July. Then a little stop in Sweden to visit friends and family!

Could life be better?
Ps. Jag kommer hem den 26 juli till Stockholm!
